NEIGHBORHOOD POLICE REPORT
M512 Beat, Ridglea North
Hello Ridglea North,
I have been a Fort Worth Police Officer now for six years. In those six years I have had the pleasure of working M12 beat (Ridglea) for the past two. It’s a great beat. What makes it great you ask? Citizens like you. You see Ridglea North has crime like every other neighborhood in Fort Worth but there is something different about the character of the citizens that live here. It’s a character that refuses to become a professional victim. And by that I mean it has neighbors that are always taking care of their neighbors.
Trust me, as your neighborhood police officer; I have seen this first hand.
The second there is a burglary, theft or any crime for that matter, you can bet I will be receiving multiple e-mails, and phone calls with concerns and questions about how not to become a victim, as well as the obvious questions did we catch anybody?
I can tell you from experience as a police officer this is not the norm for most neighborhoods.
It is this character that has stirred up a mighty volunteer army that has taken it upon themselves to make sure that Ridglea North continues to stay a great place to live. This army, a lot of times go unmentioned and dare I say underappreciated. But this army is the sole reason why the crime rate stays low. Trust me, I would love to take the credit for this but that would be a lie. This volunteer army has been led in the past by great persons like Captain Dunlap, Captain Nolte, and Captain Lott who always pass on their knowledge to the next person willing to take up the challenge of leading this army known as Code Blue to the next level. These mighty “Buzzards” as we affectionately call them are on constant patrol of Ridglea North on foot, bike and by car. They are neighbors just like yourself that have taken upon themselves to make Ridglea North the best it can be. This army track record of keeping crime down is very impressive.
Our new leader is Captain Sullivan who with the help of Buzzard Davis was recently instrumental in the arrest of w/m who was seen casing a store on Camp Bowie and then later walking through our beloved Ridglea North. This w/m was identified and arrested after it was learned that this person had an active burglary warrant.
By the way he didn’t live in the neighborhood either.
My point is this; Ridglea North is a great beat to work/live because of neighbors taking care of their neighbors. But isn’t it about time you joined a family of neighbors known as Code Blue?
